If you live in Mansfield, Massachusetts, and your trash usually gets picked up on Fridays, you’ll want to take note of a change in the schedule this week.

Due to the Fourth of July holiday, there will be no trash or recycling collection on Friday, July 4. Instead, pickup will be delayed by one day. That means crews will be collecting on Saturday, July 5 for residents who are normally scheduled for Friday service.

This one-day delay is part of Mansfield’s regular holiday waste management policy, which helps ensure that town employees can also observe the holiday.

To keep things running smoothly:

  • Make sure your barrels and bins are placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on Saturday.

  • Be sure to leave enough space between trash and recycling bins for the collection trucks to operate safely.

  • If possible, avoid overfilling barrels to reduce the chance of spills or delays.

Holidays like the Fourth of July can cause confusion, so it’s always a good idea to check the town’s official trash and recycling calendar whenever a major holiday rolls around.

This slight shift in schedule helps keep Mansfield running efficiently while giving everyone—including the hardworking sanitation crews—a chance to celebrate the holiday.

For questions or more information, residents can contact the Mansfield Department of Public Works or visit the town’s official website.
