A group of driven and inventive students from Foxborough recently made waves at the Massachusetts State Robotics Championship, earning top honors and bringing home recognition for both their school and town. Representing Foxborough High School, the robotics team competed against dozens of schools from across the state in a fast-paced contest that tested engineering, programming, and problem-solving under pressure.

The team’s winning robot, affectionately nicknamed “Bolt,” impressed judges with its agility and accuracy in completing a series of complex tasks. Students designed and built the robot over several months, working after school and on weekends in the school’s tech lab. Their dedication paid off when their robot consistently outperformed opponents in head-to-head matches during the final rounds of competition.

What made the win even more impressive was the team’s collaborative spirit. Students from different grade levels contributed their skills—some focusing on code, others on mechanical engineering or drive strategy. Mentored by Foxborough High’s science faculty and supported by local STEM organizations, the team showed what happens when innovation meets teamwork.

Community support also played a crucial role. Parents, school staff, and local sponsors helped fund materials, transport, and entry fees. Leading up to the championship, the team held bake sales and even ran coding workshops for younger students to promote STEM learning. That support did not go unnoticed, with many of the students mentioning the importance of feeling backed by their hometown.

The championship experience also opened doors for future opportunities. Several team members are now considering engineering and technology majors in college, and the school hopes to expand its robotics offerings next year to include an advanced programming course and additional competition teams at the middle school level.

This win is not just about a trophy. It marks a moment of pride for Foxborough’s growing commitment to STEM education and student achievement. For the students involved, it is a memory that will last a lifetime—and perhaps the first step in a much bigger journey.
