North Attleboro High Students Take the Lead in Graduation Ceremony
On June 8, North Attleboro High welcomed the Class of 2025 with a heartwarming commencement ceremony at Ray Beaupre Field. This year’s event stood out because students planned and led every part of it, from emcees to speeches and performances.
The ceremony kicked off with senior Michaela McCarthy and Peighton Gagne serving as masters of ceremonies, guiding families and classmates through the program. The band filled the air with familiar graduation tunes while choir members, including seniors, delivered stirring renditions of songs like “Someone Like You” by Adele and “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
Salutatorian Adrian Nguyen delivered a moving speech on the importance of authenticity and true happiness. He asked classmates to reflect on questions such as, "Are we chasing someone else’s dream instead of our own?" and reminded everyone that “happiness cannot be bought with gold medals or validation. It is a choice you have to seek out for yourself”.
Valedictorian Aanshi Agrawal followed with heartfelt advice to embrace both caution and boldness. She urged peers not to lose sight of dreaming big even as they make sensible decisions.
In addition to speeches and music, the class gift announcement stood out as a meaningful gesture. Treasurer Abraham Guir revealed their decision to donate remaining class funds to the KyleCares Foundation in support of mental health awareness.
Principal Peter Halivand closed the ceremony with words he once heard from his own father: “Never let your studies get in the way of your education.” He reminded the graduates that true learning goes beyond textbooks—it’s about growing, connecting with others, and discovering who you want to become.
The evening ended on a hopeful note as Class Secretary Ellie Regan unveiled the class motto: “The thing about new beginnings is that they require something else to end.” That sentiment echoed throughout the ceremony, capturing the essence of moving forward, embracing change, and celebrating fresh starts
