North Attleborough, MA – August 8, 2025 — The Town of North Attleborough has secured a $1.5 million grant from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to fund major roadway improvements along Route 152 and Route 106, specifically around the George Leven Drive and Messenger Street corridor.

The funding is part of the town’s larger Route 152 & Route 106 Corridor Improvements Project, a joint effort with neighboring Plainville to address traffic congestion, improve pedestrian access, and support safer travel for local residents and commuters.

As part of the expansion, North Attleborough and Plainville plan to widen lanes and add three new lanes in Plainville, as well as install sidewalks, curbing, a traffic signal at George Leven Drive, and a pedestrian island near Plain Street. Construction is expected to begin Fall 2025 and wrap up by Spring 2026.

This latest award builds on previous investments: the corridor has already received $3.9 million from a MassWorks Grant, $100,000 from an earlier MassGaming grant, and $500,000 from a developer agreement tied to a new apartment complex.

In addition, North Attleborough was awarded $72,350 of Community Mitigation Fund money to boost local public safety. The grant will help fund traffic speed cameras, signage, and training for the police department in topics such as use of force, de-escalation, and implicit bias—particularly for incidents tied to Plainridge Park Casino.

“We’re grateful for the support of the MassGaming Commission,” said Town Manager Michael Borg. “These upgrades are critical for improving traffic flow and safety along one of our busiest corridors.”
